Meet Michelle Mize, Chief Hostess Officer
Michelle Mize is a hospitality expert, culinary entrepreneur, and marketing strategist with a career spanning Fortune 500 corporate marketing, large-scale event management, and hands-on experience in the food and hospitality industries. With degrees in Entrepreneurship & Small Business Management and Marketing, plus a Culinary Certificate from Kendall College, Michelle has dedicated her life to the art of hosting and creating meaningful connections through food and shared experiences.
Her expertise was shaped early, managing the Olympian Athlete Send-Off Breakfast for the 25th Anniversary Super Bowl in Tampa—a major hospitality feat accomplished just a year after high school. Later, while living in Seattle, she played a pivotal role in launching several NBC media channels at a national CTAM conference. These experiences cemented her ability to orchestrate seamless, high-impact events that bring people together.
Raised along the vibrant coasts of New Orleans, Tampa, and the Carolinas, Michelle grew up immersed in true Southern hospitality—where doors were always open, food was always shared, and community was a way of life. But after spending 15 years in the Midwest, Michelle saw firsthand how modern life was pulling people away from the simple joy of gathering at home. Busy schedules, digital distractions, and a culture of convenience had made meaningful, in-person connections less common. She felt a deep calling to bring people back to the table—to revive the tradition of opening our homes, sharing meals, and creating space for the kind of conversations that truly matter.
Sun Cookery was born from Michelle’s unwavering belief that real community starts at home. Through inspiration, education, and beautifully curated hosting collections, she empowers people to gather with confidence—restoring the warmth, generosity, and joy of shared meals and meaningful connection.
Now based in Charleston, South Carolina, Michelle continues to explore, learn, and share the joys of hospitality. She’s also a proud mama to Max and Maggie and wife to Darren—roles that remind her daily that the best memories are made around the table
